Wedding Portraits

Over the years we have photographed many weddings that have made us tear up (Sarah especially), and feel truly blessed to have this job. We have witnessed weddings of all different cultures and experienced emotions we never expected. As Jessica & B’s wedding day approached, we knew it would be heartfelt, genuine and filled with positive energy, but I don’t think we could have ever predicted how moving and absolutely beautiful it would be. It was truly special.

It can often be difficult for us to hear what the officiant is saying while we are behind the camera, but listening to their words and seeing B tear up was one of the greatest moments of Sarah and I’s journey. Watching these two stand in front of their family and friends, and pledge their love to each other felt so sincere, it even made me choke up a bit.

It’s truly impossible to put into words, or pictures for that matter, how much love surrounded this wedding. I think Jessica & B said it best when they said they wanted it to feel like one big “hug.” I could not describe it any better way. Thank you Jessica & B for having us at your wedding and we can’t wait til we get to see you again!

We knew when we first met Tracy and Alex their wedding would be something special. Something that would be meaningful, elegant, and a downright fiesta! There was three days of documenting their friends and family with each night lending itself to be unique, meaningful and full of surprises. I loved the idea of having a “kids” dinner and a “parents” dinner for the first night, in lieu of a traditional rehearsal dinner, encouraging candid toasts with no holds barred. Tracy’s sister, a professional comedian, MC’d the entire night and had everyone in stitches including Sarah and I.

The second night of festivities, Tracy & Alex invited their guests to a candle lit dinner on the lawn behind their suite. We knew these two were fun and had lived amazing lives, but as the night continued, each story made us love them just a little bit more! As the toasts died down, the sound of drums started fading in from the beach and began to get louder. Soon their guests would be surrounded by some of the most AMAZING fire dancing we have ever seen.

The wedding day was perfectly unique, complete with mariachis, a real life donkey posing for the photo booth, and a moonlit cliffside dinner as crashing waves set a perfect ambiance. As dinner winded down it was Tracy’s turn to be surprised. After an intimate first dance, a sequence of fireworks exploded overhead! I will never forget Tracy’s face of absolute shock and gratitude. Priceless. It is hard to not ramble on about how wonderful of people they are and how perfect every part of their wedding was, but they are honestly some of the sweetest people we have ever met. Tracy even had us over to there place in New York to make us a delicious breakfast and go over the details of their wedding. We couldn’t of felt more welcomed from the very beginning. Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts, and we are so honored to call you friends.

Thank you again to Martha and Sarai at Signature Event Consulting & Design for making everything absolutely perfect, and thank you to Esperanza for their hospitality!

Austin Workshop Couples PortraitThis past week we had the amazing opportunity and experience to host a workshop with two of our close friends and some of the best photographers in the industry Caroline + Ben. We could not have been more humbled by the experience and grateful for the attendees. We cannot thank everyone enough for putting their trust in us and being a part of this. We had an awesome melting pot of photographers from Arkansas, Louisiana, and fellow Texans from San Antonio, Houston, Midland and Austin. Once again THANK YOU all from the bottom of our hearts and after hearing the feedback we are definitely looking forward to teaching our next Risky Business Workshop!

Major thank you to the incredibly talented Emily, who is the beauty and brains behind Lucy Sky Rocket Hair Salon & Makeup Studio. She is sooooooooooo good at what she does it is kind of ridiculous. Check her out on Facebook as well.

Thank you as well to Ashley & Elijah for giving up their entire day to model for this workshop! Your energy and spirit was more than we could have hoped for, and this would not have been possible with out you!!

Here are a few of our favorites from the workshop, but make sure to check out Caroline + Ben’s images and see some of the behind the scenes photos on our Risky Business blog, and take a moment to read a few of  the attendee’s experiences.:)

Engagement shoot La Fortuna Costa Rica

It has literally taken me weeks to write this blog post. Every time I have sat down and started writing I never feel as if the words do these two justice. So here it goes.

Of course Sarah and I were absolutely thrilled when Sam asked us to take their pictures in one of the most beautiful parts of the world, but pictures aside, we were so excited to just spend more time with these two and take in the other culture. If you do not already know Brittany & Sam, they are the type of people that can cheer you up no matter what kind of day you are having, their positive attitudes and adventures lifestyles just makes you want to be a better person. We have also never met anyone as generous. Anytime Sam stops by, it’s almost guaranteed he will bring cookies for Sarah, and whenever Britt’s in town, I feel like there’s never enough time to talk because she is busy making delicious food for everyone and making sure we are stuffed with Canadian goodness. Thank you!

Sam and I have also been through a lot in the last few years. He rushed me to the hospital when I realized I had Dengue fever… Yes, I am one of the few people you will meet that had Dengue fever… I mean come on. Although he did drop me off at the wrong hospital, during UT football traffic, and had to come back and pick me up. I easily forgave hime when he did a little off roading to get me to the correct hospital as fast as possible. He is also the ultimate gift giver of all time. Sarah and I gave up two years ago when we realized he. is. the. best. Don’t even try to compete people. Lastly, I am proud to say that Sam and I have started a joint venture called “Le Photo Booth Company” and I could not have a better business partner. It has taken off faster than I ever could have imagined and so much of it is owed to Sam.

Oh! Did I mention they are also wedding photographers and their work is beyond inspiring. Check out Brittany’s work here and Sam’s here.

Brittany and Sam are truly exceptional, genuine and wonderful people. We are absolutely blessed to have them in our lives. Here’s some of our favorites from Costa Rica!
