bride and groom walking in dessertWe first met Anne & Chris while shooting in one of our favorite locations, New Orleans. They were attending Lisa & Nick’s wedding and although we had no idea at the time, we were ecstatic to get an email later, asking if we were available for their Palm Springs wedding at Cree Estate. Of course we were absolutely thrilled and after getting to know them through Skype we were sure they would become good friends over time.

Their wedding also came at a perfect time, when Sarah and I had a bit of a “break” and decided to road trip from Austin to California, stopping in some of our favorite places like Marfa, Sedona and White sands, and finally staying with our good friends Micah & Megan in L.A. Many people think we are crazy for driving some of the places we do, but the open road is where Sarah and I feel most at home. There’s just something special about the downtime in the car, the people along the way and the memories created.

OK, back to Anne & Chris. It’s so hard to put into words just how “loveable” these two are without meeting them in person. Chris’s personality is magnetic, intelligent and poised with smart humor. You could easily tell by his groomsmen and other friends, he was a genuine guy and could not have been more perfect for Anne. Even though he’s a Seahawks fan… As for Anne, it is hard to meet someone with such a glowing personality, she wore her emotions on her sleeve and could not have been more fun to be around. She had Sarah and I in stitches throughout the day and it was practically impossible to stop taking pictures with all of her photogenic expressions. When it came to their wedding, every detail reflected them perfectly. From bocce ball and flamingo glasses, to neon signs and a first dance that asked their guests to surround them with sparklers. It then led into two of the best speeches ever combined with Anne’s dad’s toast that had everyone laughing at one moment and in tears of joy in the next. Finally the night broke into an incredible dance party with their sweet pooch making several appearances to cut a rug:)

Thank you again Anne & Chris, we can’t wait til the next time we are in California or you come and visit us in Austin! PS – We would like to thank Lisa Sipe for being wonderful to work with!!

Cree Estate Wedding

bride groom portraitWhen it comes to shooting weddings and working with couples we do our best to make sure our style is a good fit for what our clients envision. We look for people who like a non-traditional, creative, photojournalistic style and are not afraid to get their dress dirty. When we first met Kassie & Zack we knew it was a perfect match.

We had an absolute blast shooting their engagements in Austin and we were treated like family at their wedding. The whole day was planned out perfect from the first look (that may have brought a tear or two from Sarah and I), to portraits, a warm hearted ceremony and followed up by a perfect dance party! Kassie & Zack had such positive attitudes as well. Even when they had to move the ceremony inside due to rain, it didn’t bother them in the slightest. The important thing was they were getting married!! To Kassie and Zack- we cannot thank you two enough for being so wonderful and we are excited to see you the next time we’re in Houston!

We would also like to give a special thanks to Anna Sneed for helping us with this wedding. Without her, many of these shots would not have been possible.

Jamaica wedding

We often travel out of state for many/most of our weddings, but this one seemed to be extra significant. Not just because it took place on the beautiful island of Jamaica, but because of Kendall, Brandon and their wonderful family and friends. From the moment we arrived they included us in every activity, booze cruises, lunches, dinners, bachelor and bachelorette parties. We truly felt like we were part of the guest list and we could not be more thankful. After shooting over 135 weddings, Sarah & I both agree that you can not find a more humble and sincere set of people as Kendall & Brandon. We cannot thank you two enough for the hospitality and kindness you have given us. Thank you!

We also, have to give an extra huge thanks to both of them for jumping in the water, fully clothed, for the day after session. I remember mentioning it to Kendall when we first met, and before I even finished she said “Sure! I’ll get in the water!” without hesitation. We absolutely love that attitude and thrive on clients that our willing to do whatever it takes to get “the shot.” Thank you again, and here are some  of our favorites from Kendall & Brandon’s beautiful wedding in Jamaica.

New Orleans Wedding bride groomAs Claire & Michael’s wedding approached we could not have been more excited! We had really hit it off with them at their engagement session, and knew that with their amazing personalities and great sense of style, their wedding would truly be something to remember. And was it ever.

We had the pleasure of attending their rehearsal dinner, held on the top floor of the Napolean House.   With a throwback flapper girl style, feathers in the girls hair and an old school jazz band with one of those beautiful silver microphones, we swore we had stepped back in time and were in a 1920’s swing club. It was also the first night Michael introduced me to the “Sazerac,” the official drink of New Orleans. If you had not had one of these, it’s time.

The next day could not have been more perfect. With a professional shave for Michael and a New Orleans jazz band playing right outside Claire’s window everything just felt so authentic. Even when the bus ran late to pick up Claire and her bridesmaids for the wedding, they decided to walk to the venue instead, which not only made it fun for the people in the streets hollering at the ladies, but gave Sarah and I the opportunity to take some of our favorite shots of the day! The ceremony took place in a beautiful courtyard at Cafe Amelie, and then dinner and the party began. Perfectly finished with a second line parade to the Moonwalk, Claire & Michael led all their guests to a surprise by a fireworks show over the water.  Jackson square behind us, water in front, and fireworks above, with everyone dancing to the sound of trombones and tubas, the only thing that could be better is the company of wonderful friends.  Lucky for us, we had that with Claire and Michael and their amazing family and friends.  What a night!

We cannot thank you two enough for putting your trust in us.  What an honor to be a part of the festivities! Laissez les bons temps rouler!
