untermeyer gardens bride groom

Just like ike the T-shirt says, we heart NY.  We’re lucky enough to head there on a semi-regular basis, and were able to stop on our way home from Paris in September.  Lisbeth and Earl, however, reserved a location north of the city that was oozing history, dripping with memories of the golden age.  This engagement session, shot primarily in Untermeyer Gardens, was such a treat for Adam and I.  Often, Adam and I recommend that our couples really make the most of the session by dressing more formal, or stepping into an outfit that they normally wouldn’t, just for the fun of it!  I don’t think we even mentioned it to these two, because we knew they had something special in mind, and created a story & theme for this shoot, adding a sense of drama and glamour that Adam and I couldn’t get enough of.  I mean it… We couldn’t stop!  Now that we’ve had the chance to meet this lovely couple, we’ll go ahead and start the paper chains, counting down the days until their fall New York wedding on the Hudson next year.  Here’s a few of our favorites from the absolutely-delightful, Subaru-driving new friends – Lisbeth and Earl.

  • K.B. Wesley - So lovely, so loving. A real example of the romance of years gone by. Lisbeth is my niece and is one of a kind, in the very best, creative way. KB

You never know where life will take you and I think I speak for all for photographers, if not everyone, that Paris is somewhere you hope to visit in your lifetime. I actually met Jennifer while attending college and she had continued to follow our work for the past few years. When we received an email from her we could not have been more excited to hear “Hi, Adam! We have not spoken in awhile but I am getting married and we have to have you as our photographers.” After getting to know her hubby Simon over food and drinks in Austin we immediately hit it off and had a blast getting to hear how they met and the details they had planned. Jennifer & Simon are two of the kindest most laid back people we have ever encountered and quickly became friends! If traveling across the Atlantic for their perfect day was not enough, they insisted on taking us to one of their favorite restaurants, that was a gem to say the least. We cannot thank you enough for the trust and your genuine kindness.

Thank you again Jennifer & Simon and we can’t wait to see soon!

bride groom wild horses

If the Caribbean has the recipe for beauty, Vieques, Puerto Rico is most certainly her secret ingredient.  This tiny island is just a hop away from the main island of PR, and quietly sits on crystal clear waters, waiting to be discovered.  Until then, the few who know of this little gem will enjoy it’s wild horses, ancient trees, awe-inspiring sunsets, and one of the strongest bioluminescent bays in the world.  We were lucky enough to be set up with Jamie and Evan through Tracy and Alex, and after getting to know them throughout the weekend of festivities, we feel like it was a match made in heaven. With the W Resort as the wedding location and home base, Jamie and Evan and their adorable pups, Midas and Moe started the wedding day with morning yoga for anyone willing to partake. (Jamie’s a yoga instructor in NYC)!)  With this perfect morning ritual accompanied by questionably perfect weather, the wedding day could not have been more personal, reflective or genuine.  With wind in her veil and tears in their eyes, Jamie and Evan spoke the sweetest words to each other, expressing their admiration for each other and excitement for the future.  Heartfelt toasts, songs, and dances later, the evening took off into a party that can only happen amongst the closest of friends.  It was a party for the books, and (as you can see below) made for some amazing photos.  While we’d love to rave about these two (and believe me, we could go on!) we’re excited to share our favorites from Jamie and Evan’s wedding at the W Resort in Vieques, Puerto Rico.  Thanks to you both for having us be a part of it!  It was truly an honor.
