Lindsay and Gregg’s wedding represents a significant milestone for InTandem.  Their wedding (shot in January, yes January) marked the 100th wedding shot by Adam and Sarah together! On the plane to Miami it definitely felt like an anniversary of sorts, and a bit emotional to think of how far we’ve come in the past 4 years.  :)  Yet somewhere in between “reflecting” and  patting ourselves on the back,  Lindsay and Gregg completely (thankfully) distracted us with what we began to see would be one amazing wedding day.  Held at the beautiful Vizcaya Museum and Garden in Miami Florida, this wedding had the feel of a Gatsby house party infused with comforts of home like cozy Toms for the bride and bridesmaids, pashminas at all the ladies’ seats, some hilarious and personal toasts, and of course- the practically famous pooch of the bride and groom, flown from their home of NYC to be part of the ceremony.  It’s hard to even narrow down my words about this lovely couple (perhaps part of the reason we have waited so long to share this one!).  Besides Lindsay and Gregg being the perfect complements to each other, they bring so much energy and humor to every situation!  We found ourselves feeling like we were part of the party, and completely lost track of time in the midst of photographing their rockin’ dance party.  I can’t think of a better way to celebrate 100 weddings than with one that we couldn’t even leave because we were having too much fun.

From our first meeting to the engagement session, and even the emails and texts in between, Kayla and Chris have made us feel so warm and welcomed into their wedding plans.  Shooting their engagement session felt more like hanging out with friends than an official shoot, and with their adorable, playful selves and relaxed attitude, we were able to take some all-time favorite photos of these two and capture the fun they clearly can’t help but have.  Even while enjoying a post-shoot dinner at Banger’s on Rainey  St. they were up for one last photo.  :)  Keep an eye out for their wedding this November at One World Theater!  Until then, here are some favorites from Kayla and Chris’s engagement session!

There’s something about a carnival that is so magical, something that makes adults act like kids again.  There’s something about those “pop up” carnivals – the kind that set up in less than a day and then pack up mysteriously overnight-that have an extra dear place in our hearts.  Maybe it’s the thought that it could be gone tomorrow, or the extra fear factor (wait, how quickly was this rusty ride set up?) but those seem a little extra sparkly.  In brainstorming unique engagement photo ideas for Claire and Michael, we decided on the carnival as the perfect location. These two seem to have fun wherever they go, and the lights and the excitement seemed to match the feel of New Orleans (the 24 hr carnival!) where they’ll be getting hitched next October! In true pop-up carnival fashion, our original choice packed up and left days before our shoot but we managed to track down another in Dripping Springs, there for only 2 days in celebration of the city’s Founder’s Day Festival, complete with parade and all.  What a sight it was, and these two were the perfect pair to hang out with there.  Despite the mob of people and unpredictable rides, Claire and Michael couldn’t have been more relaxed and we’re excited to share some favorite ever photos of their engagement session.  Thank you Claire and Michael for being wonderful!  :)

If joy came in the form of a couple, I feel pretty sure that it would look just like Eileen and Marc.  Our first time to meet them in person was at this engagement session, and as soon as we set eyes on these two, we knew it would be fun.  They brought an energy  that was tangible, and with their smiles and laughter and wicked dance moves they made us look forward to their wedding even more!  Ladies and gents, meet Eileen and Marc!

In December of last year, we had the joy of photographing the wedding of Sarah and Adam.  In many ways, it reminded us of our own wedding (“please welcome Sarah and Adam” or “I, Sarah, take you Adam…” etc.) but in many other ways (all other ways, really) it was a celebration that couldn’t be replicated and was uniquely personal to this lovely couple.  Even after being together for many, many  years, Sarah and Adam clearly just enjoyed being together and were best friends.  Even their dear friend who officiated the ceremony had the guests in stitches, laughing until they were crying, poking harmless fun at some of the memories of Sarah and Adam’s long relationship.  This wedding felt less like a wedding, and more like an intimate dinner in celebration of their commitment to each other.  It didn’t stop at dinner of course, but was followed by dancing galore and perhaps the most heartwarming send-off, as they were flufferfettied and pedicabbed away, with their friends and families cheering them on wholeheartedly.  Such a sight to see, and one we’re excited to share… Ladies and Gents, here it is! Before sitting down to write this post, sharing how wonderful Jane and Jon are,  I sifted through a few sites online about kindess, and authenticity, and all the other admirable qualities I thought I’d highlight about them in search of the perfect quotation to describe Jane and Jon.  ( I knew that I couldn’t take on this task myself.)  Unfortunately, I couldn’t find one quote that gave any snippet of justice of how wonderful these two are.  Just thinking of them now warms my heart in a way that makes me smile, but also leaves me wordless.  Perhaps some of the most genuine people we’ve had the pleasure of meeting, Jane and Jon celebrated their wedding with traditions that honored their family and friends (a friend of theirs actually made Jane’s dresses!) but somehow were able to sidestep the drama and pettiness that tends to attach itself to significant events, like weddings.  Everything about this day was real.  Jane and Jon got ready together, exchanging quick “omg, it’s happening!” glances from time to time, and spoke heartfelt, personal vows during the ceremony that didn’t leave a dry eye.  Toasts given by family took people from tears to laughter outbursts in mere seconds, and  and the dance floor was quite literally vibrating from all the dancing.  It’s one of those days that left us more energized and excited for life than when we arrived.

Jane and Jon’s love for each other, and for their circle of friends and family is inspiring.  They make us want to be a better people, and for that we are so grateful to them.  :)

When Nikki and Jimmy first contacted us about shooting their wedding in Houston over Thanksgiving, we knew it was going to be a memorable and beautiful event.  What we didn’t know until we met them, was how much FUN it would be!  After a skype date, talks over coffee and crepes, their engagement session in Bastrop State Park, and spending time with them in New York City this summer, we feel lucky to have gotten to know them well and share in the excitement of their wedding day.  We’re proud to finally get to share some favorites from their wedding at the gorgeous Chateau Cocomar below, and we couldn’t help but post a few favorites from Nikki’s bridal session along with it.

Without ever having met Lisa and Nick before their wedding (with the exception of skype, of course) we knew that this New Orleans shin-dig would be one for the books.  Having recently moved to Boston from the west coast, they wanted their wedding to be a party for all of their out of town guests, and chose New Orleans as the (perfect!) central location.  Their ceremony and reception were held at the lovely Cafe Amelie on Royal Street in the French Quarter, making for an amazing Second Line Parade over to Frenchmen St. at the close of the evening.  Something about seeing this fun loving couple parading down the street with all their friends, parasols in hand and hankies in the air, with the streets blocked off  for only them that makes me want to get married all over again (to the same fella, of course) and have my own.

So, pop in some New Orleans Jazz and take a peek at Lisa and Nick’s wedding day.  And as they say in NOLA…”Laissez les bons temps rouler!”

There’s something about Hawaii that is pure magic.  Aside from the breathtaking scenery, relaxing music, and the general hawaiian spirit, something about being on an island in the middle of the Pacific ocean makes it all feel a little more serene.  Dreamlike, almost.  For Mari and Kenji, I believe that feeling was even more tangible, since Hawaii is closer to the US mainland, where they both met while studying in the states.  (They both are from, and live in Japan…and planned this whole perfect wedding from Tokyo!) Marrying between the continental US and their home of Japan served as the perfect poetic setting, bringing together two distinct parts of their lives for such a special occasion.  They married in Honolulu, Hawaii at Lanikuhonua, which translates to “where heaven meets earth”  - an ocean cove, where the wind blew through the palm trees and the sun set over the water.  We couldn’t have asked for more, except possibly to not have to say goodbye.  I admit to feeling a little misty after their day after session, hugging and saying goodbye to some new favorite friends, sending them back to their home on the other side of the world.  Until we see these two again, we’ll remember that amazing time our paths crossed, at their perfect wedding, on that lovely little island cove where Heaven meets Earth.

Our blog readers certainly already know that one of our favorite aspects of being a wedding photographer is all the wonderful people we get to meet along the way… and Sara and Jonathan really drive that point home for us.  After photographing Sara and Jonathan’s wedding this spring, we were thrilled for the chance to photograph them on their homefront of Seattle, Washington!  With open-window weather in the middle of August (sigh!) and ocean and mountains side by side, what more could we ask for?  If there was anything missing from this perfect scene, Sara and Jonathan brought it.  Loads of laughter, sandy toes (and dress!), and beautiful sunsets made these wedding photos come alive, and reminded us how much we love this couple.  Here’s our favorite photos from Sara and Jonathan’s “day after” session in Seattle!
