We couldn’t have asked for a better wedding to close 2010. Michael and Annalisa wrote us about a month before their big day asking if we could shoot their small wedding that would have only their two best friends and their pooch in attendance.
Even as I write, I get choked up thinking about the tangible love in the air at what felt like the top of the world, overlooking the city of Austin from the Texas carving at Butler Park. From our first meeting to discuss locations, they emphasized the importance of the city of Austin in their choice, seeing as they both have lived in across the world (Annalisa is from Italy) until their paths crossed here (although, after hearing their story it was clearly in the universe’s plan all along). They wanted to marry somewhere that showed that this fantastic city is where they started their journey together. So there they stood, with their feet literally on Austin, overlooking the skyline, with the birds flying overhead, wind blowing, the golden sun lighting their faces as the officiant (in her pink sequined tennies) performed her last wedding as a judge with one of the biggest smiles I’ve ever seen. Everyone felt honored to be there, and looking back now I’m certain that this one will go down in our books as one of the most meaningful ceremonies we’ll ever have the privilege to attend, much less photograph.
